Highlights
- History: For decades till 90’s, this area was a “no man’s land” to prevent the communist rebels to cross the border with Thailand. Then it has been declared a forest reserve by Sultan of Perak. Its North part, Royal Belum, is a real reserve –no logging, no hunting, control by army and rangers-.
- When trekking, there is always at least one wonderful tree in view
- Wild animals are abundant. Scientists say that this is the best place for the protection of endangered species like tigers, buffalos, elephants, barking dears. True, as their footprints are easily visible. Hornbills, fishing eagles, otters are also commonly seen.
